Telkom IoT Reach Papua

PT Telkom's Internet of Things (IoT) services are increasingly in demand , even reaching Papua. According to PT Telkom's IoT Platform Tribe Leader, I Ketut Agung Enriko, on February 18-20, his party installed Public Street Lighting Smart (PJU) at 5 points in the capital of Papua Province.

"The activity was carried out at the request of the implementation of the smart city by the Mayor of Jayapura as part of preparations ahead of the implementation of the PON 2020 next October," Enriko said in a press release on Thursday (27/2).

According to him, the Telkom IoT Tribe Team together with the Mitratel and Witel Papua teams installed LoRa (Long Range) and PoC (Proof of Concept) technology gateway from Smart PJU at 5 points in the city of Jayapura.

Called Smart PJU, he said, because it is equipped with sensors that can turn on or off refer to the light sensor and can monitor the condition of the lamp (on / off / broken) remotely by monitoring from the dashboard.

The activity, he said, began on February 18 when the Mitratel team installed 1 LoRa gateway in a location near the Jayapura Mayor's official residence in the Entrop area. The installation was completed on the 19th and trials have been carried out which the average coverage area is up to 2 to 4 km.

"On the 20th, the IoT Tribe Team began to install five Smart PJU sensors in 5 points, namely the Mayor's official residence, SMK 4 Jl Abepura, Madrasah Jl Abepura, Alternative Entrop 1, and Alternative Entrop 2" he said.

Aside from Papua, he said, still throughout February, his party also installed LoRa in Jabodetabek. The target is that by the end of 2020, the LoRa network will cover Java and several other important cities such as Denpasar, Medan, Makassar, Penajam Paser Utara (the new state capital), Musi Banyuasin, Lampung and Jayapura.

"Therefore, starting in December 2019, the LoRa squad team has begun installing the LoRa gateway in Jabodetabek. Until the third week of February 2020, the team has successfully installed 49 gateways with the majority in Jakarta, followed by Bogor, Depok, Tangerang and Bekasi," he explained .
